Kate Donovan is known for her stubbornness, which hasn't helped her dating relationships in the least. She's feeling burned out and jumps at the chance to accompany her grandmother to her ancestral home in Redbud, PA. Then she meets the man hired to renovate the house. While he's certainly a looker, it is also clear that he is deeply wounded. Can she help him find his way back from the darkness? VERDICT A feisty heroine, romance, and comedy make this a fabulous debut and Wade an author to follow. Recommended to readers who enjoy Melody Carson.

New author Wade springs onto the inspirational romance scene with the tale of spirited Kate Donovan, who comes quickly to life and establishes camaraderie with the reader in a matter of mere pages as she leaves Dallas for Redbud, Pennsylvania, to help her grandmother renovate a run-down family estate. Little does Kate know that their contractor is Matt Jarreau, former NHL legend. What intrigues Kate more than his past glory is Matt's wounded eyes and guarded demeanor. She takes it as a personal challenge to get to know him and lift his spirits. Of course, sparks fly, and Kate and Matt soon must grapple with what their feelings for each other mean. Wade creates a charming setting amid a lively bunch of seniors, making My Stubborn Heart more than just a romance. In scenes of laugh-out-loud humor, home renovation reflects a renovation of hearts.
